Larry is the President and co-owner of Cornerstone Realty. He has been in the real estate/finance business since the mid 70's. At Midland Federal Saving and Loan Association, Larry was a Vice President in the Urban Loan Department and helped to develop lending programs utilzing conventional sources as well as leveraging of public and private sources of funding. He developed a reputation as a leader in the field of creative financing for affordable housing developments and served as participant/speaker on many panels, conferences and seminars sponsored by various housing entities, including the panel set up to create the Denver Family Housing Corp. (now Colorado Housing Assistance Corp. - "CHAC"). In 1984, Larry was named the Colorado Mortgage Banker of the Year by the Colorado Mortgage Bankers Association.
After Midland, Larry was the president of Colorado Mortgage Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Colorado Savings and Loan Association. He oversaw the construction, single family, multifamily and commercial lending programs for the company. During this time, Larry helped to create the Boarded Up Housing Rehabilitation Program in conjunction with the City and County of Denver. This program provided much needed acquisition and construction financing for many blighted properties thus increasing Denver's supply of livable housing units and removing safety and fire hazards from Denver's residential neighborhoods.
In 1987, Larry founded Cornerstone Financial and Real Estate Corporation which has continued to specialize in assisting in acquisition, development and marketing of affordable housing in Metro Denver. In conjunction with his partner, Betty Maybin, Cornerstone has become a leader in assisting governmental agencies and non-profit housing developers in delivering affordable housing to the consumer. Larry and Betty were nominated for the prestigious Eagle Award in 1999 and were early pioneers in the Hope III program for people with disabilities buying their own homes. Now as HomeAccess, even people on Section 8 rental assistance can become homeowners. Larry enjoys the challenges of working on projects from conception through completion.
Larry serves on the board of directors of Colorado Housing Assistance Corp. (CHAC) and Personal Affordable Living (PAL). Both organizations are involved in affordable housing in Colorado.
Larry is a Denver native (South High School) and a graduate of the University of Denver.
